Why does the Financial Wellbeing app need my personal data?

We need to ask you for some personal details before we can offer you our services, which may include asking for a photograph of an ID document. This is something all financial companies in the UK have to do. It’s called Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML). These are rules set by the government to make sure money is not being used for bad things like crime or funding harmful activities. By collecting this information, we make sure we know who our customers are and keep everyone’s money safe.

We have partnered with a third-party verification company called Onfido to conduct upgraded security checks using these personal details and proof of ID (if required).

Rest assured this information is protected in alignment with all privacy and data handling requirements. For more information on this, please visit the Onfido Privacy Policy, or for more information on how Wagestream processes and stores data, please visit our Trust Centre.

Wherever practically possible, we follow the data minimisation principle.  This means that the data we process is necessary for us to be able to:

  • Enrol you in the Financial Wellbeing service.

  • Provide you with the Financial Wellbeing service.

The success of the Financial Wellbeing service also relies on  your employer sharing with us certain data related to your employment on an ongoing basis.
