You can combine most types of old pensions into your Stream Personal Pension. These are usually called "Defined Contribution" (DC) pensions.
However, there are some types that usually cannot be moved, or need special care:
State Pension: This is money the government pays you when you are older. You cannot move this.
Defined Benefit (DB) pensions: These are older pensions that promise a certain income when you retire. They often have valuable guarantees. We do not find or combine these. You should always get special advice before making any changes to these.
Pensions with other valuable guarantees: Some pensions have special benefits (like early retirement ages before age 55, or guaranteed annuity rates) that you could lose if you move them. We check for these valuable benefits to help protect you. We won’t Combine these.
Pensions that other people pay into: these are pensions, such as your current workplace plan, that are receiving contributions from your employer; or maybe a pension receiving funding from a relative. We won’t move these pensions as we wouldn’t want these payments to stop.
Pensions where you have already started taking money: It might not be possible or sensible to move these.
We will help you understand if any of your old pensions are these special types. We will tell you if we can't move a pension or if you should get expert advice.
